Ruto Plans To Form A Gov’t Of National Unity With Opposition As Cabinet Appointment In The Process
President William Ruto hinted on Sunday that he would form a government of national unity prior to cabinet reconstitution.
During a church service at AIPCA Ndogino in Nyandarua, Ruto hinted that his next cabinet would be all-inclusive, bringing together the interests of all political factions.
“Do you agree that I should create a new government that unites all Kenyans?” Ruto asked the congregation.

He also requested public support for the new endeavor, citing the need to unite all Kenyans.
“Please pray for me as I embark on that so that I coordinate the government well and unite all Kenyans,” he added.
The President’s remarks fueled speculation that Kenya Kwanza and Azimio had agreed to share cabinet dockets.
Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga have recently formed a political alliance.
The most notable incident was when the President signed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Bill at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) last week.
As Ruto signed the legislation, Raila supported the president’s call for dialogue with Kenyan youth who have continued to express dissatisfaction with the country’s leadership.
Despite the display of national unity during the assent on July 9, the Azimio camp later clarified its support for the dialogue calls.
According to the ODM Party, Raila had urged the government to address the issues confronting the youth and avert a crisis.
“The Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga called for a national conversation on the issues being raised by the youth of Kenya and other voices on how we can create a perfect nation that takes care of its citizens,” said ODM National Chairman and Nominated MP, John Mbadi.
However, Raila later reversed his position, revealing that he had taken note of Kenyans’ opposition to the proposed dialogue and possible handshake.
Additionally, during a burial ceremony in Butere on Saturday, the Azimio supremo revealed that he had declined Ruto’s invitation to State House, where the IEBC bill was originally scheduled to be signed.
The former Prime Minister stated that he asked Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to represent him at the State House event, but the latter declined, forcing him to attend KICC.
Kalonzo, speaking at the same funeral service in Butere, warned Raila that engaging in dialogue with the President would be futile.
