DCI Detain Cop Who Refused Transfer to Todonyang
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have confirmed the arrest of police officer Hiram Kimathi.
Detectives seized Kimathi at his residence in the Kambakia district of Makutano, Meru County, and the DCI revealed that the arrest was the result of an intelligence-led operation.
The arrest, which occurred about 1 pm on Friday, August 1, is thought to be related to the founding of the controversial new group Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI).

Kimathi’s arrest came just days after two of his colleagues, Jackson Kuria Kimani (alias Cop Shakur) and former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer Patrick Osoi, were captured.
According to police, the trio is the driving force behind the contentious movement that claims to be dedicated to combating impunity.
Kimathi went viral earlier in July after publicly declining a formal relocation to Todonyang, Turkana County.

The police constable resorted to social media to claim that he had been transferred from Kyumbi Police Station, near Machakos Junction, to the isolated Todonyang Police Station on Kenya’s border with Ethiopia.
In the video, he courted controversy by stating that the government was using him to convey a message to cops who failed to comply with the regime.
According to the letter he posted, he was told to report to the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) for further instructions when he arrived at Todonyang Police Station.
Kimathi’s lawyers have complained that the authorities have failed to explain why he was detained.

Cop Shakur had met the same fate days before, when he was apprehended outside the Kahawa Law Courts.
Shakur had gone there to express support with Patrick Osoi, a former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier and US Army veteran who had been captured the day before.
Cop Shakur, a former Kenya Prisons Service officer, was detained by police on his way to court and filmed the entire incident.
